This is without a doubt my favorite time of the year. The MLB Playoffs are in full swing and with the exception of the Tampa Bay Rays Texas Rangers series each respective series has been exciting and fun to watch.
Early Saturday morning I listened as the Saint Louis Cardinals defeated the Philadelphia Sillies Phillies and moved on to face the Milwaukee Brewers. I don’t think it’s any surprise as to how I feel about the Sillies and the majority of their fans but if you don’t know have a listen to the first eight minutes of this show right here and you’ll get the idea.
Just as the game was finishing I decided to cruise on over to some of the Sillies fan blogs and see how their fans were taking this defeat. Unfortunately for me the power went out due to a major storm and I was unable to check for a few hours but when I did it was just as I have come to expect from the Sillies fans….and then I saw the following comment that had me laughing all day long….
The Sillies fans, or at least some of them blamed the loss on anything and everything else other then the real reason for their beloved Sillies getting sent packing so when all else fails why not blame God.
God hates us. Isn’t that sweet?
I don’t suppose the Sillies getting sent home earlier than they thought they should had anything whatsoever to do with the hitters swinging early and often or perhaps they were simply outplayed.
Nah, can’t be. God hates me sounds oh so much better than my team got beaten by a team who was better than us or my team lost because my teams players didn’t get the job done.
Maybe this empty headed Sillies fan is correct. Maybe God really does hate the Sillies so much that He allowed them to get their hopes up by signing four of the best pitchers in baseball, surround those pitchers with guys who play good defense as well as hit the cover off of the ball only to burst their collective bubbles by allowing a wild card team and a pitcher with a bum arm to defeat them on their home field and in front of their home fans.
Now you can understand why I call these people and this team the sillies.
So, does God really hate the Sillies….lets see.
There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.
I didn’t see the Sillies or losing a playoff game on the list above so I guess it’s safe to say that God doesn’t hate them which is too darn bad because then I could hate them as well!
Now that we know what God hates let’s see what God loves…
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
God loves the entire world that He created which happens to include the Sillies. God even loved the people who commit those seven deadly sins listed above so much that He sent Jesus the Son to become a man and to die and rise again for the sins of the world.
So cheer up Sillies fans. God doesn’t hate you or your team so stop blaming their ouster from the playoffs on God and place the blame where it belongs….on the umpires 🙂
Please keep the Phillies Ryan Howard in your prayers. He tore his left achilles on the last play of Friday nights game and will be requiring surgery which more than likely will keep him out of action anywhere from 6 months to a year.
