Friday’s Front Row!!

This weekend is another sports bonanza with so many interesting matchups it might be tough to decide what to watch live and what to record! There’s baseball, plenty of football, hockey and the last week of the NBA exhibition season on tap……….let’s begin with the MLB Playoffs.

Friday night the New York Yankees travel to Arlington to play the Rangers. The Yankees are in a must win situation and my guess is they will win tonight and force a game 7 on Saturday with the Rangers carrying away the American League Pennant!

Philadelphia is at home on Saturday with their backs against the proverbial wall with a must win home stand otherwise its curtains for the best team in baseball. The Giants hold a 3-2 edge in this best of seven series and I will stand by my pre-season prediction and take the Phillies to win the National League Pennant!

The NCAA has a couple of interesting football matchups this weekend……

It’s Tigers vs. Tigers down in Alabama as the #6 LSU Tigers visit the #4 Auburn Tigers. Both teams are undefeated in the SEC West and with the way the top teams have fallen this year the winner may well be #1 in the country at some point this season. Look for an Auburn win in this one.

In the Big Ten the #13 Wisconsin Badgers travel to Iowa to take on the #15 ranked Hawkeyes in this classic Big Ten matchup. Are the Badgers for real? We’ll see but I’m going with the road “dawg” and take the Hawkeyes!

In tBig Twelve action we have a pretty good matchup on tap between the #16 Nebraska Cornhuskers and the #14 Oklahoma State Cowboys. Look for the Cowboys to come away with a victory on Saturday!

In another Big Twelve contest the #1 Oklahoma Sooners travel to Missouri to play the #11 Tigers. I’m going with the road dawg once again and looking for a Missouri victory on Saturday night!

The New York Jets have a bye this week so I really don’t who’s playing but this week’s entire schedule can be found here.

In the NHL the New York Rangers travel to Boston to play the Bruins on Saturday and return home Sunday to host the New Jersey Devils. The Rangers have gotten off to a slow start but hopefully this weekend they’ll get on track with a couple of wins!

The NBA opens its regular season Tuesday night with the Miami Heat travelling to Boston to take on the Celtics. Miami has a host of injured players so we shall see what the much heralded “Miami Thrice” can come up with. Look for a Celtics BLOW OUT on Tuesday!

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. Phil, I insist; you MUST pull for the LSU Tigers this weekend. That’s my husband’s team and if they lose, who knows WHAT he will do so ultimately its not for his sake but for mine! lol

As for the Rangers… GO! GO! GO! R-A-N-G-E-R-S

  2. Hello All,

The Texas Rangers have just won the American League Pennant!

I wasn’t looking forward to another ticker tape parade in the Canyon of Champions that’s for sure! The Yankees have nothing to be ashamed of. They had a great year!
