Ingrid Schlueter Demonstrates How Not To Reach Out To The Lost!

I’m sitting here shaking my head. Really. Just when I thought Ingrid Schlueter couldn’t get any worse she launches another hate filled missile that makes me wonder how anyone, after reading these hate filled words, whether they’re  Christian or Non-Christian, would ever desire to associate with “Christianity” in any way shape or form.

From the poison keyboard of Ingrid Schlueter

This is slightly outside the realm of our commentary here at Slice, but the mawkish, vomit-inducing spectacle in L.A. today over the death of a desiccated, prescription drug-abusing pop star demands a reality check. online source

Whether Ingrid likes it or not Michael Jackson was loved by millions so what on earth did she expect? Christians and non-Christians alike are hurting at Jackson’s passing and I for one am glad that people were given the chance to mourn and grieve over the loss of a person that many thought of like a member of their own family.

Ingrid considers SoL a “discernment ministry” and part of being discerning is knowing when to take a stand and when not to and this type of verbiage indicting darn near everyone mourning over Jacksons passing demonstrates a lack of discernment that neither edifies the Body nor shows ANY of the Fruits of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23……..in case Ingrids forgotten here they are again;

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Ingrid Schlueter is a mother and expecting another child soon if it hasn’t already happened yet I find her venom laced verbiage she’s directed at another mother’s child puzzling. I wonder how she’d feel if Michael Jackson were her child and Kathyrn Jackson ripped away at her son and his memorial service?

This is how Ingrid described an article criticizing HER so I can only imagine how she would defend one of her own children. (online source)

I have to ask as I read the pontifications flowing freely and unchecked from Ingrid’s hate filled fingertips “Where is the “Pastoral Oversight”  at SoL? This is a claim Ken Silva makes time and time again yet where is he to correct Ingrid? Wait…..found him! He’s busy picking on someone else who had a messed up childhood.

My hope and prayer is that Ingrid surrounds herself with solid Christian leaders who will have the backbone to take her to task over her verbiage and her anti-biblical approach to her “ministry”……..meaning where in my Bible does a woman publicly or privately correct ordained elders in the Body of Christ?

  1. I think you are being a little too hard on Ingrid here Phil.

Here article isn’t really about Jackson it’s about the maudlin, over the top media coverage of this guy and she has a point.

Maybe you aren’t fully aware of this since you are in Greece but over here it’s been all MJ all the time since he died on June 25. The media led frenzy has been surreal and it is a manifestation of our culture of idolatry. Congress debates resolutions to honor Michael Jackson. News anchors give a majority of their newscasts to discuss the greatness of MJ and his impact on society, talks show hosts drone on endlessly about MJ, his childhood, his love of children, what a great humanitarian he was, etc, etc, etc, yada, yada, yada……..

That is the real story and that is what Ingrid is bemoaning. God has given us over to our idols. Jeremiah said that Babylon was madly in love with her idols. America has become no less insane with our own.

    • Hi,

It’s been pretty big over here as well……I’m hearing what you are saying and believe me when I tell you I understand the point Ingrid was trying to make I really do Steve. However why does she need to talk about the prescriptions and the young boys like she did? MJ was probably a lost sinner as most likely the rest of his family currently are so rather then be a tad gentler and show some compassion for a grieving family she just fires away……

Ann’s right here when she says the hate is scary…..I certainly don’t know Ingrid’s heart but sometimes I think she hates the sinner just as much if not more then the sin…..and I hope and pray for her sake this isn’t the case.

Speaking of idols, have you heard this sermon from Tim Keller yet?

  2. Ann,

……just a thought…..but…….who says they’re Christian? I’m not referring to anyone in particular, of course, but just to people in general who claim to be “Christian,” yet who clearly express hatred toward others:

“The one who loves his brother abides in the Light and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes” (1 John 2:10-11).

Hate is fairly easy to spot……so, I guess if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, or to borrow another cliche: “If the shoe fits…….”

  3. Phil,

I fail to see anything hateful in the article you to which you linked
    http://www.sliceoflaodicea.com/culture-war/the-fascination-with-fame

What did she say that was so hateful? Do we as Christians show our love by joining with the world in the deification of a man who exhibited no evidence of Christian virtue during his life. I’m not saying we should rejoice in his death. God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked and neither should we but what’s wrong with stating the truth.

    • Hi Steve,

      How about this?

Crotch grabbing and slithering across the floor set the public imagination on fire and now that the crotch grabber is dead, the world “mourns.” Needless to say, we’re a little short on Churchills these days.

Putting the word “mourns” in quotes is making light of hurting people. Whether we like it or not people idolized MJ Steve and not you nor I nor even Ingrid has a right to make light of this. At least that’s the way I feel about it…..and hasn’t Ingrid just set our imaginations on fire as well?

Did you see one of Ingrids’s “sources” of info? Its none other then the Daily Mail……a London paper tabloid built around gossip. Have a look at today’s homepage.

  4. Without saying a word in response, I’ll simply quote scripture that can then be compared to the article at Slice that you link:

    Proverbs 15:1
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

    Col. 3:12
“… clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”

    Jonah 4:2
“I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity.”

    1 Peter 2:17
    “Show proper respect to everyone”

    1 Peter 3:15
“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”

    Interesting…..

  5. Hi Phil:

Glad to see you back! I was in Europe when MJ passed, and the sight of the masses in front of Notre Dame Cathedral, dancing to Thriller and moonwalking, dressed in their MJ best, was a sight that I never thought I would see in my lifetime. I would not call it vomit-inducing. just surreal.

Steve L. has a good video on his site about the idolatry relating to MJ. I think we can all agree. The sin is what we christians should hate, and not the sinner. To hate MJ for his sins is to hate ourselves. Jesus died and was raised again for him too, and whether he ever recieved revelation of that, only God knows. His actions sure don’t point to it, but then again, we are not his judge.

Maybe Ingrid should take a listen to MJ’s “Man In The Mirror” one more time.

  6. Who knew that the “world ” has idols ? I really don’t know how anyone can be surprised at the media coverage of Michael Jackson. This sort of thing has been going on for years. This will pass and eventually and a new “news story” will take its place. Michael Jackson’s life is a tragic story much like most people who seek after fame and fortune. The people around him are responsible for the tragedy of who he was and he is responsible himself. But for the Lord Jesus Christ my life would be a tragedy but just not splashed on the front headlines of papers and on the news. My problem with Ingrid is not with the premise of some her articles but how she expresses that premise. Aren’t we supposed to be different than the world? And doesn’t that mean how we write and speak ? Hating the things of the world does not mean hating the people of the world and sometimes that’s how Slice comes across. There is a subtle form of pride among some of the “elect” that comes across when we speak of the lost and demean them and call them names. My favorite one now days is goats. It seems to be everywhere on the internet. Well, hello???? I have yet to find one person who was born into this world that was “born again” at that first breath. We were all sinners at one time and in need of a savior. Attitudes are contagious . I know because I was infected with this same attitude for awhile. I feel deep shame that I held this attitude toward my brother who is lost and in need of Christ. What I find equally disturbing is the refusal in some in the ODM camp to speak out when one in their ranks is running wild on the reservation. The loyalty to our Lord should come first no matter who our friend happens to be.
