Heavens Realities or Todd Bentley’s Delusions?

I think it’s important whenever someone like Todd Bentley comes along claiming “visions” and conducting “healing revivals” that we examine what they teach. Today we will begin to examine his published works to determine if what he is teaching lines up with God’s Written Word….and today we will begin with Part 1 of “Heavens Realities”…….

It appears that this teaching is copywrited material, so here’s what I need you to do. Copy this article and compare it with my commentary. http://www.freshfire.ca/index.php?Act=read&status=teaching&Id=236&bid=

Bentley begins by claiming there is a heaven….and that angels exist….and I have to say I agree completely with both of his statements. He next insists there is an “angelic realm in heaven devoted to finances”. He further claims “His angels are on assignment to watch over your finances, to gather money, to gather investments, to bring favor, and to bring power in your life so that you can have favor and wealth”. Bentley further claims to have seen these “angels of finance” at least three times while being “visited by the Lord”.

There are several instances where angels have appeared to warn (Genesis 19:5) to minister (Matthew 4:11) to reap (Matthew 13:39) to gather (Matthew 13:41) and as messengers (Hebrews 2:2) but not to watch over our finances.

As hard as I try, I can’t find anywhere in God’s Written Word where there is such a thing as an “angel of finance”. The closest thing I could find regarding an angel outside of the bible was on a psychic’s website. She named this angel Arcadel.

According to Bentley, he made a Jacob’s ladder (Genesis 28:12) type entrance to heaven and discovered the “treasury room” where he actually describes the finance angel as “having a body like a man with six wings” carrying under his wings “every precious gem you could think of”.

Treasury room? Ok. I’ll give Bentley a bit of wiggle room here with the gems. After all, heaven is paved with streets of gold so maybe every precious gem you can think of is in heaven. What I can’t find mentioned is reference to a “treasury room” located in heaven….even though he claims further down in his teaching article that all of this unbiblical mumbo jumbo is a “reality of heaven”.

What’s the first thing Bentley did when he entered the “treasury room”? He allegedly stuffed his pockets with gold coins…and God told him he was “getting the offering”. All this allegedly happened while Bentley was conducting a “meeting” while in a trance. I hope and pray he doesn’t go into one of these “trances” while he’s driving a car!!

Reading further into Bentley’s teaching, it becomes pretty clear he is trying to raise money for his ministry. Look at the way he transitions from his “visions” into the whole “sow a seed” drivel the WoF Movement uses to raise money. I guess birds of a feather really do flock together…or at least use each others material for material gain!

Bentley claims this seed sowing nonsense is unique…wanting some “anointing” and running up to the altar and plinking down some cash and claiming “I want that!” Ever heard of a “blessing line” Todd? The WoF Movement has been doing stuff like this before your unbiblical “movement” ever was spewed from Satan’s mouth.

While I didn’t find an “angel of finance” or “treasury room” in my bible, I did stumble across the story of Simon the Sorcerer;

Acts 8:9-25 (ESV)

9 But there was a man named Simon, who had previously practiced magic in the city and amazed the people of Samaria, saying that he himself was somebody great.
10 They all paid attention to him, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is the power of God that is called Great.”
11 And they paid attention to him because for a long time he had amazed them with his magic.
12 But when they believed Philip as he preached good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 Even Simon himself believed, and after being baptized he continued with Philip. And seeing signs and great miracles performed, he was amazed.
14 Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John,
15 who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit,
16 for he had not yet fallen on any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
17 Then they laid their hands on them and they received the Holy Spirit.
18 Now when Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money,
19 saying, “Give me this power also, so that anyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”
20 But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!
21 You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right before God.
22 Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you.
23 For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity.”
24 And Simon answered, “Pray for me to the Lord, that nothing of what you have said may come upon me.”
25 Now when they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel to many villages of the Samaritans.

The rest of part 1 natters on about getting money and folks receiving “gold teeth”….which seem to be occurring in Lakeland. Again, there isn’t any biblical evidence to support this teaching or these claims. I think there is enough here to demonstrate “Heavens Realities” lacks Biblical reality….and a more suitable title for Bentley’s article would be “Bentley’s Delusions”.

There are similar teachings and visions on Bentley’s site that you can examine for yourself. I’ve seen enough unbiblical excretement in what I’ve read and commented on here to make a wise choice and leave Bentley and his associates alone. Todd Bentley is either completely deceived by the devil…..or he is lying about these “visions”. I don’t know which it is but I do know one thing; DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN OR HIS MINISTRY WITH YOUR SPIRITUAL LIFE!

  1. When you think about it, these people believe in a small God or at best no god at all. God paid Jesus and Peter’s taxes with a coin in a fishes mouth. Jesus didn’t tell Peter to take up a collection. If God created the earth and parted the red sea and wants you to be rich in material things then he would have money or gold appear in a way that you could not question. These people do not know the nature of God or they would cry out for repentance.

Phil: Hi Boyd! I agree. They don’t really have any faith and I’m not sure what their definition of repentence is, but it doesn’t fit the biblical definition!

  2. Great article Phil, yep sounds like Bentley is preparing the sheep for some fleecing.

    A TREASURY ROOM?????
Does He not own heaven and earth and every thing in and out of them?
Didn’t realize He needed a place to put away His stash…

  3. Phil,

Apart from the fact that you’ve done a good job exposing the delusions of grandeur of this man, I want to say that I am glad you’re back with the old writing style 😉

Its much more edifying. Did you get a fresh ‘anointing fire’ (whatever that really means, but many preachers use that a lot here in Nigeria) from someone’s meetings? Certainly not Bentley’s.

Stay abiding in the word of Christ.

Phil: Thanks Yomi! Actually, I got the “Biblical Anointing” after reading my Bible…..and decided that strong rhetoric is what the Bible calls for when we see error…especially from those who claim to teach His Word!

  4. Wow, we are learning SO MUCH about how Heaven is constructed, room by room. First, we had Jesse DuPlantis telling us about God in the Throne Room breathing out baby souls from His nostrils that beg Him to give them a body .

THEN we got Roberts Liardon telling us that Jesus showed him a room in heaven stacked with body parts of all colors just waiting to be claimed by amputees and such on earth.

NOW we have this “profit” telling us about God’s Vault where He keeps the cash.

I wonder if Heaven has a bathroom too, where we can find suitable use for the paper wasted by these false teachers writing these sermons??

  5. Here’s a link to Bentley’s Litany Of Lies on YouTube.

Lots of angels visit this dude it seems. The Angel of Finances, The Angel of John G Lakes, The Angel of Apparently, the Angel Of Promise, The Angel of called Emma (he needs to look up women angels in the Bible. Maybe he’ll repent.),The Angel of The Winds Of Change, etc etc etc.

Apparently, from the video evidence, The Angel of Daily Exercise hasn’t made it yet but The Angel Of The All You Can Eat Buffet has.

OOOPS……….forgot the YouTube link. Here ya go. Monitor your gag reflexes closely.

Phil: With all the “booms” and “bams” I thought Adam West was gonna slide down the Batpole!

Notice what was missing? Todd didn’t have noticible tatoos and piercings like he does now. It’s incredible what people will fall for.

  6. To GaryV…Your Premise is off becuse you are assuming they actually take the time to sit and write. Don’t you knoiw the Lord speaks to them while they are preaching?…..no need for writing or studying or any of that other useless stuff

Phil: Hi Cep3….Welcome to Theology Today!

You forgot that angels are next to Bentley when he’s preaching….so it’s not only God speaking…..try to get it right next time will ya:)

  7. Learn How to Become a False Prophet Performing False Miracles! Learn the Secrets of TODD BENTLEY`S *Operation Money Suck* Today!

Rom 16:18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

Eph 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

2Cr 11:13 For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore [it is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness

  8. I am very concerned about the false teachings of this man, my friend left last week to go from Australia to florida to this “revival”and this woman is a Godly woman, searching I beleive for a special healing she feels she can only obtain with an annointing from these so called “prophets” I really pray for discernment for all those people attending this and next week. This false prophecy is straight from the pit of hell. We need to expose this man and the many other false prophets to warn not to judge, but many will be affected by this man..

  9. All about Todd’s “Angel” named Emma, plus RARE close up photos
of Todd’s Tattoos revealing hidden things about Todd!

  10. Luke 9:49-50 Now John answered and said “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us.” But Jesus said to him, “Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side.” Mark 9:39 But Jesus said, Do not forbid him, for no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of Me.”
Let’s let God be God in America again. He is in everything because He is God. His ways and thoughts are not ours and Praise Him for that because if they were we would all be in trouble. Thank You Lord for your Grace!!!

  11. Incredible!!!

Phil: Did ya notice what Bentley did when he found the “treasury room”….he stuffed his pockets with cash….says a lot doesn’t it?

  12. I have watched many nights of this Outpouring. I have read the comments from others. I do know that when GOD chooses to work through a person MONEY mentioned for healing or help is like a bucket of cold water thrown over one. I have a healing ministry as an ordinary Christian faithful to GOD. When I was used to help others GOD told me that what was given out was a FREE GIFT through LOVE of GOD for his people. I am not rich but have never been destitute (a promise of GOD)

    The reward of working for
GOD is knowing that we do his will in defeating the enemy and saving people who are crying out to GOD. It is such an honour!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and brings its own joy

He’s not the first, and he won’t be the last. Ever hear of someone named “Percy Collet”? He was making all the rounds of Christian radio in the Eighties with his twelve-casette-long “Visit to Heaven”, an account of a multi-day vision which I remember sounded just as lame. (The link goes to another’s comment on his claims, not to a transcript.)

The parts I remember were Elijah giving him a tour in a chariot “drawn by spirit horses” that grew or shrank as-needed to accomodate passengers and “dogs in heaven — not spirits of Earth dogs, but Heavenly spirit dogs — that neither bark nor bite, but constantly “PRAISE THE LORD!”

I think you can find his tapes on the Web; just punch “Percy Collet” into any search engine and sift through the resulting weird hits.

“Reaching the World with His Word” Mark 16:15-20

Avoiding Deception in the Last Days

1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron. 1 Timothy 4:1-2

1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber. 2 Peter 2:1-3

As we read the two above scriptures we see the Holy Ghost through Paul warning the church about end time deception that will come via demons working through false teachers and prophets. Peter says these false prophets and teachers will even bring in secretly destructive heresies. The Strong’s Concordance definition of the Greek word translated destructive in the NKJV means:
    1. destroying, utter destruction
    A. of vessels
    2. a perishing, ruin, destruction
    A. of money
    B. the destruction which consists of eternal misery in hell.

Notice that this destructive heresy can lead one to the path of hell if adhered to.

Another way that both Paul and Peter say that these false prophets and teachers will deceive is through deceptive words. They will lie while teaching, preaching and prophesying.

According to Jesus and Paul these false prophets and teachers will have great signs and wonders. (Mathew 24:24; 2 Timothy 3:1-9) Pay particular attention to verse 8 which mentions that these false teachers will have the spirit of Jannes and Jambres who were sorcerers and opposed Moses. (Exodus 7)

2 Timothy 3:13 says that evil men and seducers will grow worse and worse. According to Greek scholars the word seducers means sorcerer. That means that some false teachers and prophets in the last days will have great signs and wonders following them but it won’t be from God. They are designed to deceive the elect. (Matthew 24:24; 2 Thessalonians 2:9; Revelation 13)

We should not try to discern if a man’s ministry is of God by signs and wonders. The devil imitates some of the things God does. Just read Exodus 7.

Here are some biblical ways to determine if someone is false and teaching heresy.

    1) Use the Word of God to judge if what is being said and done is coming from God.(Hebrews 5:14; Psalm 138:2; Psalm119:105,130) God will never violate His Word or do anything outside of His Word. My covenant I will not break, Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips. Psalm 89:34

    2) The Holy Spirit will bear witness with your spirit that what they are saying is true. (Romans 6:14,16; John 14:23,16:13; 1 John 2:20,27)

    3) Matthew 7:15-16 15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Jesus said you can recognize false prophets also by their fruit. 1 Thessalonians 5:12 says to know those who labor among you. Take time to check out a person’s ministry and character before you open yourself up to them.

    4) If you still are not sure speak with someone in your local church that is in leadership and is mature in the Word of God and ask them
    about a man’s ministry.

While no ministry or minister is perfect a good minister will fit the above criteria. He will speak in line with the Word. He will be of Godly
    character and will be truthful.

As I see the signs of all that Jesus, Paul and the other writers of the Bible said would be taking place in the last days before His return. It only
    shows me that we are very close to the coming of the Lord. Let us finish the race and obtain our eternal reward. (Mathew 24; Mark 13;
    Luke 21; Revelation 22:12-15)

8 Watch out for people who try to dazzle you with big words and intellectual double-talk. 18-19 Don’t tolerate people who try to run your life, ordering you to bow and scrape, insisting that you join their obsession with angels and that you seek out visions. They’re a lot of hot air, that’s all they are. They’re completely out of touch with the source of life, Christ, who puts us together in one piece, whose very breath and blood flow through us. He is the Head and we are the body. We can grow up healthy in God only as he nourishes us. Colossians 2:8,18-19 (The Message Bible
