A Warning to False Prophets who see False Visions

Those of you who have been around here for any length of time know how passionate I am when it comes to warning the sheep that the wolves are devouring them financially and spiritually. A few moments ago, while waiting to watch the Florida Healing Outpouring, God led me to the following portion of Scripture that will serve as a warning to Todd Bentley and his fellow Prophetic Movement Associates……

Ezekiel 13:1-23 (ESV)

1 The word of the Lord came to me:

2   “Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel, who are prophesying, and say to those who prophesy from their own hearts: ‘Hear the word of the Lord!’

3 Thus says the Lord God, Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

4 Your prophets have been like jackals among ruins, O Israel.

5   You have not gone up into the breaches, or built up a wall for the house of Israel, that it might stand in battle in the day of the Lord.

6   They have seen false visions and lying divinations. They say, ‘Declares the Lord,’ when the Lord has not sent them, and yet they expect him to fulfill their word.

7 Have you not seen a false vision and uttered a lying divination, whenever you have said, ‘Declares the Lord,’ although I have not spoken?”

8 Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Because you have uttered falsehood and seen lying visions, therefore behold, I am against you, declares the Lord God.

9 My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who give lying divinations. They shall not be in the council of my people, nor be enrolled in the register of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter the land of Israel.  And you shall know that I am the Lord God.

10 Precisely because they have misled my people, saying, ‘Peace,’ when there is no peace, and because, when the people build a wall, these prophets smear it with whitewash,

11 say to those who smear it with whitewash that it shall fall!  There will be a deluge of rain, and you, O great hailstones, will fall, and a stormy wind breaks out.

12 And when the wall falls, will it not be said to you, ‘Where is the coating with which you smeared it?’

13 Therefore thus says the Lord God:  I will make a stormy wind break out in my wrath, and there shall be a deluge of rain in my anger, and great hailstones in wrath to make a full end.

14 And I will break down the wall that you have smeared with whitewash, and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be laid bare. When it falls, you shall perish in the midst of it, and you shall know that I am the Lord.

15 Thus will I spend my wrath upon the wall and upon those who have smeared it with whitewash, and I will say to you, The wall is no more, nor those who smeared it,

16 the prophets of Israel who prophesied concerning Jerusalem and saw visions of peace for her, when there was no peace, declares the Lord God.

17 “And you, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own minds. Prophesy against them

18 and say, Thus says the Lord God: Woe to the women who sew magic bands upon all wrists, and make veils for the heads of persons of every stature, in the hunt for souls! Will you hunt down souls belonging to my people and keep your own souls alive?

19 You have profaned me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, putting to death souls who should not die and keeping alive souls who should not live, by your lying to my people, who listen to lies.

20 “Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold,  I am against  your magic bands with which you hunt the souls like birds, and I will tear them from your arms, and I will let the souls whom you hunt go free, the souls like birds.

21 Your veils also I will tear off and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand as prey, and you shall know that I am the Lord.

22   Because you have disheartened the righteous falsely, although I have not grieved him, and you have encouraged the wicked, that he should not turn from his evil way to save his life,

23   therefore you shall no more see false visions nor practice divination. I will deliver my people out of your hand. And you shall know that I am the Lord.”

  1. Amen.

5 You have not gone up into the breaches, or built up a wall for the house of Israel, that it might stand in battle in the day of the Lord.

Rom 16:18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

Eph 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

2Cr 11:13 For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore [it is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness

  3. Jer 14:14 Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.

  4. How did God lead you to Ezekiel 13:1-23 (ESV)?

Phil: I opened up my Bible and there it was….

  5. Interesting…I wish to let you know that I copied our conversation because I know people like you too well. You censored and allow comments that float your boat.

I don’t know those you are calling false prophets, so I will not hold brief for anybody. However, your attitude speaks volume. On yomisays.com, you were all over the board disparaging God’s leading and the claim by some believers that they hear Him speak to them, but on your website, you stated “God led me to the following portion of Scripture that will serve as a warning…” but on further probing, you could not prove how you’re led by God.

Your logic is warped. You are on a self crusade and tell you what: your efforts are futile!

I will create a parallel blog to warn the Christians about you and yomisays. And no, you won’t get publicity through it. Trust me, I know how to go about it!

How did God lead you to Ezekiel 13:1-23 (ESV)?

Phil: I opened up my Bible and there it was….

Good! Since you decided where to read and quote in the Bible, why

then did you attribute your decision to God’s leading?

Phil: I wasn’t looking Jaycee….I just opened it up….no conscious

    decision on my part.

    jaycee – May 18, 2008 at 11:37 am

Why didn’t you quote all the verses in the page you opened, but

    instead chose Ezekiel 13:1-23?

    Phil: And your point is??

    Your comment is awaiting moderation.

I want to learn how God leads, so I can obey Him to the letter.

What happened to my comments and your responses? Did you

    delete them?

    jaycee – May 18, 2008 at 12:09 pm

Phil: I sent you an email informing you as to why I deleted your comments….you were off topic and I believed you had an agenda….and I was right. You go right ahead and write whatever you’d like…..just make sure you have your facts straight…..

  6. No Phil: sincerely I do not have an agenda because I pretty much AGREE with you and yomi on almost everything you write and talk about. But I must tell you and other Christians that TRUTH IS FEARLESS. If anyone repudiates my belief and make a compelling arguments for his/her stand, I will still not bail, no matter how ludicrous the person’s remarks.

When you censor comments by respondents, you inevitably create room for doubt as to your genuine intentions. This is what i wish you and yomisays will imbibe, henceforth.

Do not be afraid to engage anyone in discourse if you are sure of the truth you expound!

Phil: I’m not afraid to engage you at all…and since we are off topic, I’ll tell you EXACTLY what happened.

I have a computer program which houses several bibles, commentaries etc…On that day I actually cracked open my bible that I preach from…why I do not know but at that time I did and out popped Ezekiel 13…..and it was exactly what I was thinking about this Bentley and others that I had been writing about….I attribute that to God…

  7. If I were you, instead of trying to defend that “God led me..” I would simply say: That is what His words say concerning false prophets who see false visions! And our conversation would have ended there.

If indeed the spirit of truth dwells in you, I make bold to say that you will love those in whom the same spirit dwells.

Generally speaking, I agree with you, but then one might ask: do you know everything there is to know about God? Have you reached the pinnacle of knowledge on God’s related matters?

Phil: I believe I have answered your previous questions at the bottom of your last post….and no…I don’t believe I know everything and don’t pretend to….Thank you for your advice….

  8. Sorry, Phil. I was rather hasty posting the last comment. Your penultimate response covers the bases.

But then, I will like to discuss with you some personal experiences on God’s leading…

I understand this is not the right platform to discuss this issue, but shall we discuss?

I believe God can and still speaks to the believer’s heart…

  9. phil,
on the whole subject of visions and vision. I here an awful lot of preachers today talking about the Pastors’ vision. This is usually coupled with the act of a petition for money to build a huge new church complex. The pastors often use ” without a vision he people perish” and “write the vision and make it plain” was Habbakuk speaking to christian pastors??? Is there a biblical president for us all to follow a pastor’s “vision” that he says God gave him???

  10. that is the same Scripture God gave me when our church was under attack of similar pastors under dilusion who went on to pastor at TAC.
How do pastors put “successfully accused believers, dissolved a church, shipwrecked the faith of new believers, and caused permanent distrust of the faithful” on their resume?
