New Birth Crowns Eddie Long as King

My first thought after watching this video was “they must be joking”. After watching it again it’s obvious that they weren’t joking.

“Bishop” Eddie Long has now been crowned a king.

I was stunned when I heard the supposedly Jewish fella state “no more a commoner but a King” before the cheering New Birth crowd.

Had the scroll they wrapped around their new “King” been made of Charmin it would have been more appropriate.

What a load of manure.

I don’t know who I felt sorrier for; the dumbstruck crowd who don’t seem to know any better or the four dudes who had the unfortunate task of hoisting up the new “King”, throne and all, on their shoulders.

I wouldn’t want to be in any of their shoes when they meet the real King of King and Lord of Lords.

It’s Wednesday!!

It’s a gloomy Wednesday morning here in Corfu Greece and once again I’m sitting in the most beautiful Starbucks in the world. It’s nice to have my ice tea and be able to write from this awesome location!

Last week’s Antithesis Hour generated quite a bit of feedback and I’m fairly certain this week won’t be any different as Mike and I resume our discussion of Rob Bell’s new book Love Wins. You can hear the program live Thursday evenings at 10pm Eastern/7pm Pacific here or you can visit our site here to download the program that will be made available sometime on Friday.

I’m Tired of Hypocrites too Ralph, but We Can Learn From Them

Yesterday’s posting was sort of a beginning point as Ralph had made another statement regarding hypocrisy that I would like to address today. The statement can be read in its entirety here. Ralph said the following; Continue reading

Good Character Is A Necessity For Leadership in Christ’s Church!

One good thing about scandal is that it produces questions. This newest scandal involving Bishop Eddie Long is no exception. Ralph has made the following statement that I would like to take the time to address. Ralph stated;

“If you can’t live it, don’t preach it. If anything you are discrediting the very thing you preach.”

In this case the fear is that if someone can’t live it than they would be discrediting the very thing they preach which hopefully is about Christ. If I could edit Ralph’s statement a bit I would say something like;

If you can’t live it than you than you have no business preaching and teaching anyone in the first place.

That sounds rather harsh Continue reading

Big Religion and Bishop Eddie Long

It’s a dark rainy Wednesday on the Island of Corfu. I’m sitting in my usual spot at the most beautiful Starbucks in the world watching it rain. For a tennis pro rain means no work (unless you have indoor courts) so it’s another day off around here.

I just spent the last 5 minutes or so watching an interview with one of Bishop Eddie Long’s alleged victims and it’s riveting. You can see the video here. If that young man is lying Continue reading

Bishop Eddie Long Responds to Lawsuit

Bishop Eddie Long

Bishop Eddie Long has responded to the allegations that he has had inappropriate relationships with at least 4 young men. You can watch part of his statement at the following link.

One thing was made crystal clear. Bishop Long is staying in his pulpit and he ain’t going anywhere. I suspect that will hold true no matter what the outcome of these trials, if they ever get that far, will be.

Please remember when commenting on this incident that Bishop Long is innocent until proven guilty.
