GOD TV’S Mission Week
This week GOD TV owners Rory and Wendy Alec are hosting “mission’s week”. According to them they need to raise 6 million bucks to stay on the air in order to continue to follow “The Great Commission”. Mr. Alec claims that Satan is trying to “shut their ministry down” so he’s brought in heavyweight fundraisers Steve Munsey and Mike Murdock to keep Satan from shutting them down.
How can Satan “shut down a ministry”? Does Satan really have that much power? Please consider the following Scripture;
Job 1:6-12 ESV
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. The LORD said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the LORD and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.” And the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?” Then Satan answered the LORD and said, “Does Job fear God for no reason? Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face.” And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.
Satan can’t do anything to a child of God unless God allows it! If GOD TV is really of God then why blame all of their financial troubles on Satan? Surely the Alec’s must have read the Book of Job. Maybe God is testing their faithfulness. Possibly God wants the Alec’s to rethink who they allow airtime to? Could it be possible that GOD TV really isn’t of God at all?
Mike Murdock claims that you can sow a seed for a specific need. He claims it’s a “biblical principal” that works if you just have faith enough to sow a seed. Murdock even had the audacity to ask the viewers to place their donation on their credit cards because “you can use what got you into trouble to get you out of trouble”. I suppose if you follow this twisted logic then heroin addicts can use a needle to kick their habits and crack heads can kick their habits with a crack pipe.
The Alec’s claim they need 6 million bucks to stay on the air. My question is this;
If this were indeed true, why don’t the Alec’s just sow a seed and have faith that their bills will be met? Why host a “mission’s week” to follow the “Great Commission”? Why should the faithful viewers of GOD TV fund something that the Alec’s claim God commanded them to do?
The first question is easy to answer. The Alec’s don’t appear to believe in this “biblical principle” otherwise they would just sow a seed and be done with it. Wouldn’t that make more sense then hosting a week-long “mission’s week”? I suggest that the Alec’s need their viewers far more then their viewers need them.
The second and third questions are also easy to answer. They have to make appeals for money because they really aren’t following the great commission. I’ll prove this to you by offering you a challenge. Are you ready?
Where in the NT does anyone ever ask for money to promote the Gospel message?
Still looking? Keep looking……
If you do find Scripture that supports appeals for money to fund the message then by all means continue to financially support these people. If you don’t, and I believe you won’t, then maybe it’s time to reconsider who and what you are giving your money to.

LOL, you stupid dude! LOL!!!! I have never thought about it that way. LOL!!
It is funny that Paul didn’t want to take the money from the Philippians we can see that in 2 Corinthians 8
8:1 We want you to know, brothers, about the grace of God that has been given among the churches of Macedonia, 2 for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. 3 For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, 4 begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints— 5 and this, not as we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the will of God to
I would love to see a pie chart to see how much is really going to the mission field. Thanks for the info bro. Saints have to wise up and understand their responsiblilities as stewards.

Lionel,
If these folks really believed in “sowing seeds” why don’t they just send you or I the money….
Let’s write them and ask if they will send us 1189 pounds like Mr. Murdock was requesting the viewers to do!!

I record the content on God TV’s broadcasts and use the content for sharpening my own discernment. I compare the teaching on this network, always keeping the scriptures that are used within context and the false teaching jumps out at me! God TV’s Mission Week is always loaded with false teaching, no matter who is doing the speaking, from Rory and Wendy themselves to Benny Hinn to Mike Murdock to Steve Munsey and many more. If Steve Munsey was not so dangerous as a false teacher he would be almost comical. He says, “he said..or she said..Jesus said…or God says..” but none of what Mr. Munsey goes on to say is recorded in the Bible! Mr. Munsey’s one statement that really gets me is his claim that God tells the devil: “you go first”. He bases this on Isaiah 59:19. Where does He even get that idea from Isaiah 59:19? If kept in context to what is before and after this verse when a study of the original is done it clearly says that when the enemy comes in like a flood,the Spirit of the Lord has already raised the standard against him. Mr. Murdock boasts he has purchased 3 jets. Goodness, why does he need 3 jets? He can only occupy 1 jet at a time! What is so sad is that these false teachers call people like us “heresy hunters” and say we attack them because we are “jealous”. If only they would realize that we care.

I was wondering about something that I heard a powerful man of God (David Ravenhill) say concerning those teaching in the pulpit without character/integrity for which it should go with. Whenever they say things along the lines of how it’s soley up to the people of God to support/feed the minister with their money/resources (at the expense of the people and not of the pastor), or the pastor gets his followers to buy into the “Speak it and Reap it, Sow it and Mow it, Blab it and Grab it” mentality, or they say things like “I’m good seed, and you reap what you sow, so sow into my minisrty and you’ll reap a hundred fold” or “We need your money to spread to keep this ministry going, so give and we’ll all be blessed”, perhaps they should try something different.
According to their logic/interpretation of Galatians 6:7, they should send 100 dollar bills out of their accounts/wealth (or however much money they want to have multiplied their way) to every one of the many individuals who’ve ever sown into their ministries and speak blessings. That way, they’ll have plenty of money to support themselves and whatever they feel God is calling them too…cause hey, like they’re saying, “You reap what you sow….”
Like the old saying goes, “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander”. How comes, however, the giving only works one way? Just curious….
On the flip side, there’s always a hint of truth behind every lie…or more appropiately, a truth that has become twisted out of context so that it becomes a lie essentially. As the Word makes, Paul reminded the Corinthians to fufill the commitment they’d already made (II Corinthians 8:10-12), for they said that they would collect a financial gift tos send to the church in Jerusalem. Paul was sending a few men ahead of them to see if their gift was ready, so it would be a real gift and not look like people had to give under pressure at the last minute (”ready as a geneous gift, not as one given grudgingly given”). People may hesitate to give generously to God if they’re worrying about having enough money left over to meet their own needs.
But Paul assured the Corinthians that God was able to meet their needs.Paul made clear that a person who gives little will only recieve little in return and that one should’nt lack faith in keeping them from giving generously/freely. God gives us resources to use/invest for Him….and Paul used the iillustration of seed to explain that the resources God gives us are not to be hidden, foolishly devoured, or thron away….but instead cultivated in order to produce more crops
2 Corinthians 9:6-13
Sowing Generously
6Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9As it is written:
“He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.”[a] 10Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
12This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 13Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.
…and when we invest what God has given us in His work, he will provide us with even more to give in his service.
This has been my experience and that of many who used to fall for the “give a seed” mentality. Even though there was error in much of it, there was good bit of truth. Whenever I gave, I did so with a right heart because I sincerly desired to invest in His kingdom….and it was always amazing seeing crazy things happen afterward (i.e. money neeeded for a lack I was dealing with come out of nowehere, God’s provision, etc)…….and I think that God honors that.
If, however, it was for the purpose of me “giving to get” (as is the case for many in the “sow a seed” mentality), that’s a problem……but even in that, praise the Lord that he’s able to work through it.

“Missions Week”…Hmmm… For some reason the name of this fund raising event does not witness with my Spirit. The Alecs have been discipled by the likes of Hinn, Murdock, Munsey, etc. Hinn is of The Assemblies of God who love that word MISSIONS too! But, they actually send out REAL missionaries! Thank God in Heaven (being sarcastic) for Murdock’s 3,000 sq. ft. gym he got at his home; one of his “returns from sowing seeds” he told the viewing audience. They are a travesty and to those Christians who think that these types of Christians are OK, THEY’RE NOT! God gave us a brain to use in discernment. God be with us all.

On the subject of GodT.V. what about this ‘Trip to Jerusalem’. The Body of Christ is the New Bride or ‘New Jerusalem’. They are taking everything literally and getting subscriptions along the way for ‘prayer requests’ that will be taken to the Upper Room at the TV Studios in Israel. PLeeeeeeezze …this is no different than Roman Catholicism where you paid money to get ‘indulgences’. This is still carried out in Roman Churches where you ‘pay’ the priest for a Mass to be said for the ‘dead’ (!!!!) or the living.
The just shall live ny faith ..hallelujah.

[...] For those of you who don’t know, God TV is a christian television channel here in the UK which broadcasts around the world. It has a lot of false teachers/word of faith preachers on it like the Copelands, Creflo Dollar, Jesse Duplantis, Benny Hinn and they occasionally do beg-a-thons Missions Week where they get in people like Mike Murcoch and Steve Munsey to help with fund raising. Revival shown on God TV…or is it? « Real Christianity - May 6, 2008 at 12:03 am
There is a place in God where some does not enter nor understand.
There are two types of Christians; those who are carnal, and those who are spiritual. The carnal Christians reasons with their carnal minds and try to understand spiritual things with a carnal mind. It is s source of deception and misinterpretation of scripture and often leads to strife and division in the body of Christ. It often leads to criticism and judgment of others even using the word of God.
Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom, and unity. There is a difference between the Holy Spirit of God and the Carnal Spirit of man. Wendy and Rory Alec honors the Spirit of God and they live by Faith. It is Faith that pleases God. They do not need carnal men to judge them because God is their judge and God will also be the judge of those who judge them. even those who use scripture to justify their judgment . They do please God. Others like Munsey and Murdoch, Benny Hinn all have specific anointing s from God for their specific ministries to serve the body of Christ. God is a God of order and the Body is one.
These people understand that oneness and work together under the guidance of the Holy Spirit not the guidance of mans critical spirits where there is strife and chaos. You need to be in submission and obedience of the word of God to be able to do so.
People who “sow a seed” into such a ministry contribute to the predestined and pre ordained callings of God. This kind of participation
are done by faith and commands a blessing from God because the righteous shall live by faith and it is faith that pleases God, not reason nor carnal minded criticism.
Often those who do not understand the supernatural , and has never entered into that special place where you can discern Gods specific word for your specific need or for His specific order for a specific task in the earth, The place where people receive their callings from God and their ministries from God. This is a place in the spiritually realm. God is Spirit and Jesus says God seeks those who worship Him in Spirit and truth. So be careful not to judge these obedient and faithful servants of God with a carnal mind.

Hi Susan,
How can you say Rory and Wendy “live by faith” when they run appeal after appeal for viewers to give them money….a true man of faith wouldn’t ask man for the cash…they would believe God for the cash, wouldn’t they?
Wouldn’t “sowing a seed for a specific need” like Mike Murdock teaches during the beg a thons fall into the “carnal Christian” realm?

I just cannot see how on earth this campaign, and the rhetorics and theology used on God TV, has a n y t h i n g to do with the life Jesus led during his stay here on this planet. Do we even have to dig into scriptural details to see that following Christ doesn’t mean standing on big televised stages and begging for funds (which may end up in private invetsments)?
I try to follow Jesus, and I fail so very often. But still I want to. But if those people we are talking about here will continue to call themselves christians, well, I will let them use that epithet and call myself something else. I don’t say that I know where they will end up, because the Lord is merciful, just and true. Only God can judge. But I just don’t want to be associated with them, not a bit.
